MEDICA 2006: Deutschland Radio broadcasts an interview about CHILI's Greenland project
Greenland is a pioneer in telemedicine
Düsseldorf, November 2006: On the occasion of MEDICA, the world's largest trade fair for medical technology, Mirko Smiljanic from Deutschland Radio interviewed Andre Schröter, one of the three founders and partners of CHILI GmbH. The topic of discussion was the teleradiology project in Greenland, which was presented at MEDICA. Greenland has the world's most extensive teleradiology network. All of the 16 hospitals on the island are linked by CHILI components in a telemedicine network, the implementation of which presented a huge technical challenge. It was necessary to allow for the special climatic and geographic conditions of this island. By providing robust hardware components, reliable communication software and an interruption-free power supply, it was possible to set up a teleradiology network that spans the world's largest island. Every radiological image generated in Greenland can today be distributed to all of the island's hospitals using a PACS system. The main contractor in this project was Medos AG in Langenselbold, together with its Danish subsidiary company Medos AS, in whose IT solution the teleradiology system was integrated. The interview was broadcast on 18 November 2006 by Deutschland Radio and published online at www.dradio.de.
