All of the hospitals in Greenland have been linked by CHILI in a teleradiology network

Over the past year, Greenland has set up the world's most extensive teleradiology network. CHILI provided the software and the know-how that made this possible. A specially developed teleradiology gateway enabled an optimum combination of the existing CHILI modules, and thus permitted the connection of the digital modalities of the 15 district hospitals to the central PACS in the capital city of Nuuk and the teleradiological networking of the whole country.

The central CHILI web server in Nuuk also allows RIS-integrated image distribution to all hospital departments as well as teleconferences with the district hospitals.

In this project, a particular challenge was presented by the special climate conditions in Greenland and their effects on the existing communication infrastructure. Frequent power failures, unreliable networks and in some cases very low bandwidths demanded unique software solutions to enable secure data transfer.

You can read about this in our article in the Telemedizinführer Deutschland.

Media reports concerning the project can be found in the news section of our homepage:

CHILI-Software connects hospitals in Shanghai

Using the new TR-Gateway module, CHILI has also implemented a teleradiology network in China, which links the digital modalities of external clinics to the central CHILI-PACS in the World Link Medical and Dental Centers in Shanghai. This involved an extension of CHILI/Web so that it can display Chinese characters.

The installation was carried out by our partner CHILI U.S.A.

CHILI integrates biosignals in the telemedicine file

The CHILI telemedicine file can store multimedia data in all imaginable MIME types, and display them again with the appropriate helper applications. This is also possible with biosignals, as we have already demonstrated at Medica 2005 using the example of a Bluetooth-ECG.

New software packages: Teleradiology-Gateway and Teleradiology-Hub

The new CHILI software packages, TR-Gateway and TR-Hub, enable the straight-forward, star-like connection of teleradiology partners.

TR-Gateway is integrated as a blackbox in the network of the partner that is to be connected, and provides a C-Store SCP, a local cache and a local web server. The integrated autorouter forwards the data to the recipient in a rule-based manner and using various protocols (DICOM-E-Mail, https, CHILI, DICOM, ...). In doing this, particular attention is given to data security and to dealing with slow, poor-quality lines. Interrupted transfers are automatically restarted and only the remaining data is then sent. In this case, DICOM Associations are maintained as far as possible. The integrated web server enables transferred images to be viewed locally, and teleconferences to be held with other CHILI systems as with the TR-Hub.

The TR-Hub is found in the central office; it is the counterpart to the TR-Gateways. From here, the CHILI autorouter forwards incoming data in a rule-based manner to the PACS or to a workstation. An integrated web server enables teleconferences to be held with the web server of the sender.

New and extended OEM modules

With the new OEM modules, Worklist SCP und SCU, additional sections of an IHE-compliant workflow can be mapped with particular ease.
  • Worklist SCP
This supplies a DICOM worklist to the modalities. The source of the worklist data could be an RIS-filled file structure, the CHILI database or an individual user interface, e.g. with a barcode scanner and SAP integration.

  • Worklist SCU
This allows the DICOM worklist to be queried and the data to be saved in the CHILI database for later use.

  • Autorouter
Using the entries in a DICOM Worklist, the CHILI autorouter is now capable of correcting and forwarding the DICOM data it receives in a rule-based manner.

All of the above-mentioned modules also work with the CHILI-HL7 components and are also used by CHILI, for example, in its own Reconciliation module.

CD Burning Robot

A new CHILI service enables the direct control of Rimage CD robots. The integrated C-Store SCP burns all image data it receives on to CD or DVD and prints these individually. At the same time, the CHILI viewer is included on the CD or DVD, with which platform-independent viewing of the images and results is possible on Windows, Linux or Mac.

CHILI/Java Standalone

CHILI/Java Standalone, the GUI of CHILI/Web, is now available in a multi-monitor version.

We would be happy to answer any queries relating to our products.
